Tony Dunbar for State Representative District 75

Breaking… SHOCKER: THERE'S BIG MONEY IN POLITICS!

With still two months until election day, my opponent for Florida State House District 75, Danny Nix, has amassed over $414,000 through direct contributions and PACS. More than half of that is special-interest money. Annual salary for Florida Representatives is only $18,000. Why so much for what seems like so little?

PUT PEOPLE FIRST!

  • RESTORE local decision making—stop Tallahassee's meddling in our local issues
  • RESTORE A WOMAN'S RIGHT to determine her own health care
  • BRING AFFORDABLE HOUSING to young and working people
  • PRIORITIZE ENVIRONMENT over out-of-control development
  • MAKE INSURANCE affordable again
  • RESTORE CIVILITY and common sense to our government

Follow the money.

You can see the details here, but here are a few of the “high” lights:

But wait, there's more! At last count, The FRIENDS OF DANNY NIX, a PAC organized by Eric Robinson, his campaign Treasurer, has raised an additional $138,000 including:

And you thought that developers only invested in land and housing…

THIS IS NOT NORMAL in Sarasota and Charlotte Counties where candidates, winners and losers, for countywide positions typically raise $30,000 or $40,000. SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING ON and a fast look at the sources of these donations makes the reason for them pretty obvious — it's to make it even easier to “build, baby, build” and to deflect the public's attention from the runaway cost of property insurance.

House District 75 encompasses the southern end of Sarasota County and the western side of Charlotte County. It is composed of hard working, independent-minded young families, retirees, veterans and sportsmen. We like where we live, but our homes and neighborhoods are under attack by reckless OVERDEVELOPMENT, staggering PROPERTY INSURANCE INFLATION and relentless FLOODING PROBLEMS caused by too much thoughtless building. We deserve better.

I am proud that my campaign has so far raised more than $30,000 from more than 120 regular people, not any PACs, Special Interest Groups, Insurance Companies, or Land Developers. But clearly, we need to raise more money to combat the massive amount of special interest cash flowing into Nix's campaign. Can you help with a donation?

I am a common-sense, middle-of-the road candidate who is not financed by big developer money or the insurance companies. I have pledged to prioritize our environment over reckless development, to work to raise development impact fees to reflect the true environmental and social costs of out of control building, and to fight to make insurance affordable again. Together we can make this happen! Please join me. Donate. Volunteer.
